Youth Advisory Commission

Youth Advisory Commission

“The Youth Advisory Commission of Goshen High School aims to engage the student body with the City of Goshen through student-led initiatives. This caucus strives for diversity and inclusivity in all forms to ensure all students are represented.” — Youth Advisory Commission Mission Statement.

Responsibilities of the YAC

  1. Engage the student body with local government decisions

  2. Inspire involvement in the community of Goshen

  3. Maintain a high level of diversity within the group

  4. Establish and outline projects to accomplish throughout the school year.

  5. Co-run monthly meetings as Youth Advisers during SRT or after-school. (including creating an agenda and recording minutes)

  6. Keep the student body informed

Meeting Outline

Before each meeting, the officers of the YAC must create an agenda to outline the meeting’s events. They must also select one officer to run the meeting and another to take notes on minutes. The agenda should be used as a starting place for each meeting, but open forum discussion is also encouraged.

At the beginning of every YAC meeting, each officer must report important details and information from their respective government body meetings. It is also encouraged to alternate invitations to members of these government bodies to join the youth caucus meetings.

After each YAC meeting, minutes must be made available to the entire school body. These minutes are suggested to be attached to a YAC webpage.
